Every year Forbes releases its annual ranking of the world’s billionaires thus its list of wealthiest billionaires in the world and this year, like every year, I woke up, checked the list of the richest people in the world and decided I’d better go to work. What is the secret to the success of the top 20+ richest Black Billionaires.

Today, many of the top millionaires and billionaires come from this community. We decided to look at the members of the Billionaire Blacks Club from around the Diaspora. We noticed a few things about the black billionaires. Notably, about 10 persons from the total of 2,043 global billionaires are of black descents. From this statistic, it can be observed that the number of black billionaires has decreased as against the total of the previous year.

In 2005, when he decided to sell Celtel for $3.4 billion, the company already numbered over 24 million mobile phone subscribers in 14 countries.

Ibrahim pocketed a total of $1.4 billion from the deal. Now, he is mainly focused on fighting corrupt leadership in the region through his Mo Ibrahim Foundation.
